This is the irrational season
when love blooms bright and wild.
Had Mary been filled with reason
there’d have been no room for the child.
- Madeleine L’Engle
In these final hours of Advent, we remember that Mary was full of grace, but also full of love.
We remember that Mary was full of grace, but also full of courage.
We remember that Mary was full of grace, but also full of bold possibility.
We remember that Mary was full of grace, but also full of God’s dream for the world.
I believe, Mary, full of grace, is for us a prime example of saying “yes” to God’s invitation to be a part – co-creators – of what God is doing in the world.
That is part of the amazing thing that we see in Advent, that we see in Mary’s story, that God has chosen not to do what God is doing without us, using very ordinary everyday people, like Mary, like Joseph, like you and me.
In these final hours of Advent. Let us, with the courage of this young woman, full of grace, take a risk and say “yes” to hope, to peace, to joy, to love, “yes” to every good thing that God is doing in our lives and in the world.
Thanks be to God!
