Fundraising + Stewardship

Masks –Cameron reported that we have sold a good number of masks  (close to $200.00) and masks are still being sold

Bazaar – the date has been set for the Bazaar, November 28th, it may be an in person event or an online event. More to come on this. There was a discussion wondering if people are making things for the bazaar; should an announcement go out to the parish to see if people are making things? We will need to take an inventory of items available from people if it goes on line. Cameron ( and possibly Igor) will help with the online process. How do we connect with people who are not on line? Important to include everyone (note to Cameron)

Stewardship Campaign – can be done on line, we can have printed materials available for people, time line of November for the campaign – idea to video tape people with a minute for stewardship to incorporate in worship services – Cameron will put together a team to work on this with him

It was agreed that The Anglican Foundation will be highlighted in the stewardship campaign.

Outreach

Cameron reminded the committee that Thanksgiving Food Drive is coming up.

Ride for Refuge – PWRDF

Cameron is participating in the 50 K ride - Cameron will have provide more information

David Hildreth moved Pam Tattersfield seconded that St John the Divine make a donation to the Anglican Foundation in the amount of $250.00 - carried

There was some discussion about adding the Anglican Foundation in the 2021 budget.

Maintenance Report

Rectory update

David reported that St John has received 4,000.00 from the Diocese as part of their insurance plan  - thank you to David for all of the work he put into our claim

Roof

Elaine reported that she has been in touch with Robert Kaethler from Polyglass Roofing with regards to having the work done on the roof

Fence – pending

Gardening – thank you to Rita, Lou, Norma and Pam who have done weeding – the Memorial garden looks great

Reopening Plans

Survey

Cameron reported that he received 49 responses which was very helpful. Most people have been enjoying the on line services and Sunday was the preferred time for people to gather in person for worship. The data from the survey will be shared on the website.

Equipment

Cameron reported that he can stream from his laptop (can not stream from his phone) streaming will record it and then it will go up on YouTube . The goal is to have the link sent out next week once we try it this week – stay tuned. Elaine to connect with Brad to talk with him about streaming.  Cameron thanked many people for coming together to get the sanctuary ready

Cameron asked for feedback regarding the sermon style of interviewing his friend – should he do more? Now is the a good time to be doing this kind of worship because it is on line – twice a month maybe connecting with other clergy – from Squamish, fellow students, from the Deanery – the committee agreed that this would be good to do, suggested to start with Darcy and go into community Christmas care – new bishop – note to put this in the newsletter so that the parish knows what is going on

Staying Connected

Website/Communications – Cameron still working on the changes to website

Elaine to check with Shaw to make sure we have enough ‘power’ to live stream

Whistler – Cameron connecting with this group and is inviting the people in Whistler into a 6 month discernment process to see what the Whistler people need/want regarding church. Cameron reminded the group that he is still looking for a Whistler point person

Ministry Groups

At this point in time we have Music Together and Squamish Fresh renting outdoor space

Music

We do not have a church musician, we do have people who are happy to help out. We need  to think about budget line, we have 1,000.00 currently budgeted for music for the rest of this year. Do we want to advertise? At this point there is no singing but we do need to plan – Cameron to research more about this and report back

Mothering Table

There was an article in the local paper, looking for hosts, Cameron has already been approached by the group to see if St John would be interested in participating in this program.  They would like to host their gatherings at St John in the hall with safe distancing. There was great response and support for this group, Covid-19 making it a challenge at this time.

Regarding preparing meals it was noted that our kitchen is not certified, perhaps it is time to look into upgrading our kitchen to meet the new standards.

First step:  let’s find out who would be interested?

Should we get a quote to see what we need to do to get the kitchen up to par

Children’s Ministry – we have the money, no plans at this time with Covid
