REFLECTION: Summer Hymn Series - Week 6
The first hymn is from Giorgio Noaro: Lord of the Dance
An upbeat hymn that celebrates the joy of dancing with God.
The second hymn is from Michael Hammerstrom: Alleluia, Alleluia! Let the Holy Anthem
I just like it! No special reason!
The third hymn is from Muriel Franceschini (visiting from Ottawa): Praise My Soul, the King of Heaven
The favourite hymn of Queen Elizabeth II. It was played at her wedding and at her funeral.
The fourth hymn is from Suzie Noaro: On Eagle's Wings
Written in 1976 by Michael Joncas of Minneapolis, Minnesota, for the funeral of a friend’s father. Soaring images and melody. Who wouldn’t want to ride up to Heaven on the wings of an eagle?
The fifth hymn is from Rita Carey: Bless The Lord My Soul
Wonderful memories of the Taizé-style services we used to have a few years ago. Simple words and music repeated over and over - gentle and prayer-like.
The sixth hymn is from Karen Brumpton: She Comes Sailing in the Wind
I love the way the words create beautiful word pictures, and the music is very uplifting.
