REFLECTION: Summer Hymn Series - Week 8

The first hymn is from Justine #415 "All Things Bright & Beautiful"

This is in remembrance of her husband who was a veterinarian who passed away and this was his theme song.

The second hymn is from David Hildreth - #24 "Day is Done But Love Unfailing"

These words are so comforting - "Day is Done - Love unfailing- Dwells ever here"- very uplifting I feel…

The third hymn is from Simon Charles - #355 "All Creatures of Our God and King"

I love this hymn because of the vision of all the creation that God has made praising them.

The fourth hymn is from Sara Jane Kennerley "Hallelujah" from Leonard Cohen

I chose Hallelujah because I love the words, the music and its history. The sound of an orchestra and chorus singing the original lyrics makes me want to sing along. Written by Leonard Cohen in 1984, originally for the guitar, Cohen rewrote the lyrics more than thirty times until his death in 2016. He said Hallelujah came from a desire to reaffirm his faith in life, not in some formal religious way but with enthusiasm and emotion. He later said "There is a religious hallelujah, but there are many other ones. When one looks at the world, there's only one thing to say, and it's hallelujah."

The fifth hymn is from Wayne Kennedy "Go Now in Peace"

A beautiful closing hymn! Sharon and I worshipped at several churches in Canada and were snowbirds in Arizona for 15 years….this hymn was played at several Churches as a closing hymn!…the words are like a special prayer!  Quite often ask Google to play a special version….sung by….Nancy Price.
