1. Opening hymn: Lord the Light of your love is shining - Karen Brumpton

I was looking through the hymn book looking for another hymn when I came across this one.  I realized how much I like it and thought that we hadn't done it for a while.

2. Gradual hymn: Abide by me - Simon Charles

It is a beautiful hymn and speaks to God's faithfulness and has crossed into soccer/football and is sung in England at many major matches.

3. Offertory hymn: I want to walk with Jesus - David Hildreth

This is a meaningful hymn for the whole Hildreth family.

4. Closing hymn : And did those feet in Ancient times (Jerusalem) - Cannon Donald Lawton

This is an interesting hymn as It asks the question about Jesus' presence in England but more importantly it makes reference to the effects of the Industrial Revolution in the slums of England and raises the challenge to make the New Jerusalem present where we are.  The hymn, originally a poem by William Blake, contains many allusions to images
from the book of The Revelation at the end of the Bible and to passages from the Old Testament.  The nationalistic claims to Jesus presence gives me theological concerns but the challenge to find power and inspiration in the Bible to change society gives me courage to truly live out my Faith in Christ in today's world.
