Summer Day Camp Leader

Position Description:

St. John the Divine Day Camp is seeking two contract Summer Day Camp Leaders to help with the successful delivery of the camp programming and child care. You will work closely with and report to the Minister as well as to the Children, Youth and Families Ministry Worker at St. John the Divine Anglican Church, and assist them in the planning and delivery of the St. John the Divine Day Camp program. You will work alongside another camp leader, delivering program activities both collaboratively, as well as individually leading smaller groups of children. The children will be aged 5 to 10.

 

Position Dates:

July 6-10, 2026. There will also be mandatory training and preparation before the week of camp, with flexible dates depending on successful candidates’ schedules.

 

You are:

A skilled relationship builder who has some experience working with children in and across a variety of fields. You are a team player, who understands the needs of children and youth and is comfortable leading some elements of curriculum and organizing events. You are a self-motivated person who is organized, energetic, and loves leading children in a variety of games and activities.

 

Summer Day Camp Leader:

There are 2 positions available. Ahead of St. John the Divine Day Camp, you will need to be available for paid training sessions. Part of the training will be in person and scheduled depending on the group's availability. The other part will include safeguarding training and can be done remotely at any time from the date of being hired. The camp will be 5 days, July 6-10, at St John the Divine Anglican Church in Squamish. It is a requirement that you be there for each day. The hours will be 8:30am-4:30pm.

 

The Pay Rate will be $22/hour.

 

This contract is for a total of 60 hrs.

Experience in youth and children’s ministry is a plus

Willingness to learn new skills and receive constructive feedback

Good time management skills

 

Requirements

The successful applicant must be 16+.

Ability to work with flexibility from July 6-10, 8:30am-4:00pm.

Complete a successful Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector search.

Diocese of New Westminster’s Screening in Faith policy and training.

Basic First Aid/CPR (Child) or equivalent (required for 1 out of 2 positions and preferred for both).
