We are pleased to inform the community that St. John the Divine has entered into a covenant relationship with Canon Donald J. Lawton to be an Honorary Assistant for the parish. Canon Lawton is already active and known to St. John's, so this is in many ways simply formalizing the roles he already does to assist Rev. Cameron and the ministry of the Church. Please celebrate and pray for Canon Lawton and the parish as we journey together in faith.
This is the prayer Rev. Cameron offered to celebrate this new step of this relationship:
O God, who in every age raises up ministers, lay and ordained, in the Body of Christ, the beloved community. We give you thanks for the ministry of Canon Donald J. Lawton. Bless the work of his hands, ears, mouth and heart at St. John the Divine as he walks and serves with us in this new way as Honorary Assistant. May we uphold him in prayer and action. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
