Lord of the Dance: David Hildreth

Our family first participated in singing Lord of the Dance in Oshawa Ontario, and then, on moving west and becoming parishioners of St. Christopher’s in West Vancouver, our family frequently enjoyed continuing to sing this hymn. Then the tradition has continued in St. John's, and witnessing the uplifting participation of everyone is heartwarming. The lyrics are so powerful, and for me the words "I'll you lead you all, wherever that may be" says how God certainly leads us all and is with us.

Come Down, O Love Divine: Erica Northcott

I picked Come Down, O Love Divine for a few reasons.  As a child when I first heard and sang it, I resonated with the music and gorgeous harmony.  Ah...composed by Ralph Vaughn Williams one of my favourite composers! The text was the next and enduring resonance in my heart. I love the personal message of invitation for God's Love to come down and visit this soul of mine. It is a text rich with expressions of love, comfort and assurance. I chose this as a hymn for my wedding.

Make me a Chanel of your Peace: Joy Boulier

Make me a Chanel of your peace was one of my mum’s favorites, and I love it as well. It reminds me of my mum and brings back wonderful memories for me.

You Who Dwell in the Shelter of the Lord (On Eagle’s Wings): Joy Boulier

On Eagles Wings reminds me of my wonderful mother-in-law as she also loved eagles and this hymn. The day of her funeral, we had 4 beautiful big eagles circling, welcoming her. I was very blessed to have had 2 beautiful, amazing moms.

My Life Flows On In Endless Song: Anonymous…

The last hymn is a mystery as the person who chose it didn't put their name down, so I couldn't find out why it was chosen! However, what a beautiful hymn to as we move through “a few of our favourite hymns” (Cameron).
