Advent is long gone.

Christmas is all wrapped up.

Epiphany and the Baptism of Jesus have passed us by.

I have loved all of these special seasons and celebrations – they are wonderful.

But now we are in the Season after the Epiphany, what we also call Ordinary Time.

The special wouldn’t be so special if it was special all the time.

That is the gift of the everyday and ordinary.

This season, I hope, that we may have the opportunity to consider that though God is in the special and the spectacular, God is also in the small, mundane and ordinary things of this world and rhythms of our lives.

Keep a watch out for God as you vacuum or do the dishes, in your morning cup of tea or coffee, on your way to school or work.

May we be blessed by the ordinary - the everyday places where God shows up, where Christ is pleased to dwell.

Thanks be to God!
