Dearly Beloved,

As we approach the feasts of All Saints’ and All Souls’, I write to you with some news about our yearly Bazaar and Nativity Display.

Bazaar

Parish Council has decided to transform our Christmas Bazaar into an online auction this year. This decision was made in a desire to keep people safe in what is usually a very busy event at St. John’s.

In addition, this year we have decided to split the proceeds from this auction 50/50 between the ministry of St. John the Divine and Community Christmas Care, the local organization which coordinates Christmas hampers for families in need in Squamish.

Please think if there is anything you, or a person or business you know, would like to donate to the auction. If you have items, please advise the office and arrange to drop them off or have them picked up by November 15th.

The auction will be live, online from November 22nd to December 5th.

St. John’s will additionally be doing a Purdy’s chocolate fundraiser again this year. More information will be coming soon, but please contact the office if you would like a catalogue and order form when they are available.

Nativity Display

Parish Council has also decided to move our yearly Nativity Display (mostly) online. We will set up an online gallery that people will be able to tour virtually from December 6th to 13th. We will have the nativity scenes set up in the sanctuary as well, available to be enjoyed before or after services on either of those Sundays.

We will invite anyone who enjoys the nativity scenes to make a donation to the work of Community Christmas Care.

If you or someone you know has nativity scenes that you would like to offer for the display, please contact the office and then drop them off between Wednesday December 2nd and Friday December 4th.

A great, big thank you to parish council and to all of you for your flexibility and willingness to try new things. I pray that there may be blessings for us as we do ministry in ways we never have before.

May the Lord bless and keep you, my siblings in Christ.

Humbly yours,
