Dear St. John’s community (and beyond),

Greetings in the name of the One who made and loves you.

I write to you today about our capital campaign to fix the roof. The Church is not the building, that has been made clear again and again in the past year. We are the living, loving, breathingstones out of which God’s Church is built and animated. However, our building is a gift a tool for our ministry in and for the wider Sea to Sky community. It is a sacred and spiritual home – a sanctuary for all who need it. It is the fruit of generations of faithful hands and hearts, permeated with the prayers and memories of this beloved community past and present.

It is a big project, with our goal being $125,000. However, we have the support of the diocese, who approved our $40,000 grant and $65,000 loan application. In fact, with the grant, the $20,000 we have already committed from our past accumulated surpluses, and the gifts of those who have already stepped up to contribute, we are over halfway to our target. God is good!

So, I invite you to make a contribution to this project as you are able, either in the form of a one-time gift, or as a pledge over the coming 3 years (or you can join me and do both!) so that we can continue to steward and benefit from this amazing resource for our shared life and ministry.

We will have a number of fundraisers over the coming weeks and months to connect and invite the wider community to, but if you know someone who has used or loved our space, please do invite them to join us in this work.

I believe we can do it, and that we will be stronger for it. With God’s help, we can continue to faithfully follow in the Way of Jesus in this place.

Your brother in Christ,

The Rev. Cameron Gutjahr

You can donate to the roof project by cheque or e-transfer at info@squamishanglicanchurch.ca or give@squamishanglicanchurch.ca, and writing “roof” in the message or memo line. Pledges can be added into your envelopes, set up as a new pre-authorized giving, or added on to a pre-existing one.
